Some of the more frequent questions that we receive from people visiting our Web site are answered below. Please check this list to see if your question is here. How can I join CompuServe? To obtain CompuServe software, click here and we will be happy to send it to you. How do I find a local access number? Click here to access the CompuServe Access Number Search page. Please keep in mind that CompuServe 2000 and Classic run on separate Networks. Therefore, the access numbers are different for each. You can identify the version of CompuServe you are using by pulling down the Help menu and choosing "About CompuServe..." CompuServe 2000 is the latest version of CompuServe for Windows 95/98. Classic refers to CompuServe versions 4.0 and below.I've lost my password. How can I find out what my password is? Contact your Customer Service Center. Customer Service can generate a new password for you. For security reasons, we'll need to verify some of the information that you gave us when you started your account. NOTE: No one from CompuServe will ever ask for your password online. How do I get help with billing matters? Contact your Customer Service Center. A Customer Service Representative will be happy to look into the matter and address any concerns you may have. How do I send e-mail between CompuServe and the Internet? To send e-mail from CompuServe Classic to the Internet, simply address the mail normally, but put INTERNET: before the address. For example: INTERNET:santa@northpole.com To send e-mail from the Internet to a CompuServe Classic address, change the comma in the CompuServe member's ID to a period (Internet mail protocols do not allow commas in addresses). Then send mail to that person using the following format: 70000.101@compuserve.com (Where 70000.101 is the member's ID #) -or- john456@compuserve.com (personal address format) To send e-mail from CompuServe 2000 to the Internet, simply type in the address. For example: johndoe@abccompany.com To send e-mail from the Internet to a CompuServe 2000 address, type in the member name (address) and @cs.com. For example: john123@cs.com CompuServe members can GO MAILHELP online for more help with sending and receiving e-mail. How can I report misuse of CompuServe e-mail? To submit complaints about Internet originated spam, report to CSSPAM@cs.com. To report unsolicited advertising, report to ActionTeam@cs.com Can I check my CompuServe mail using Internet mail programs? CompuServe Classic does support POP3 mail. To active your POP3 Mailbox on your Classic account, GO POPMAIL online. Can I use CompuServe software over the Internet? CompuServe's software can be configured for use over any standard PPP Internet connection. This is often a good option for people who do not have a local CompuServe access number, but who do have access to a local Internet provider or a direct connection to the Internet.
